EMPLOYMENT: DPNA Representative Programs Officer

Sadly, DPNA would like to advise that DPNA Representative Officer, Sheryl Scanlan, has made the decision to finish up with DPNA, with her last working day being Friday 3rd December 2021. We are extremely grateful to Sheryl for all that she has contributed to the DPNA Community, and especially the DPNA Representative Program, over the last 3 years. Sheryl has brought an incredible warmth to her role with DPNA and created a close, tight-knit, family unit amongst DPNA coaches, officials, players and families. It has been an honour for all within our community to learn from someone who reached the pinnacle of our fabulous sport yet remains eternally humble of her incredible sporting achievements and knowledge. I am sure the entire DPNA Community joins us in sincerely thanking Sheryl for her contribution to DPNA and wishing her, and her family, all the very best for her future endeavours.

With Sheryl stepping down, DPNA are calling for applications for a casual DPNA Representative Programs Officer who will be responsible for the delivery of programs and the development of players and officials. This hands-on position will oversee recruitment, appointment, development and selection of players and officials and prepare Representative teams to compete at Carnivals, State Events and League Fixtures. Please find a copy of the  position description for this role HERE. It would be appreciated if you would please share amongst your networks.

Netball Qld Nissan State Age Championships

New Dates: Saturday, 25 September to Tuesday, 28 September 2021

Netball Qld Media Release: https://qld.netball.com.au/news/covid-19-update-29-june-2021 -

Nissan State Age

Due to the lockdown announced today, Netball Queensland has taken the difficult decision to postpone our 2021 Nissan State Age Championship due to start this weekend on the Sunshine Coast.  As the largest participation event in Netball Queensland’s calendar, we have been planning and preparing for this event for a very long time. This outbreak and the decision to postpone the event will affect more than 20,000 participants, supporters, staff, volunteers, vendors, commercial partners, and media who attend our State Age event. However, the health and wellbeing of the community must come first. There is significant risk hosting an event of this size when we are heading into a lockdown due to cases in the community and more practically, the snap lockdown means we are not able to prepare and set-up for the event. We appreciate that the lockdown and postponement of State Age will impact on planned travel and accommodation arrangements.  Given we are postponing not cancelling the event, we encourage as many teams as possible to seek credits against bookings.  We hope to see everyone back together later in the year. Further information around the rescheduling of this event will be provided in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to all players selected in the DPNA Red & Green teams to attend State Age Championships at Sunshine Coast Netball Association from 03-06 July 2021. Play hard and enjoy the experience!

2021 DPNA Calendar Final

Registrations for the 2021 Season have opened today via the new NetballConnect. **Please note some clubs have not yet opened up their registrations so please check for email updates from your club before trying to register.

Some trouble-shooting tips:
  • For players 18yrs and younger, the parent/guardian should have an account and THEN register your child! Look out for the question "Are you registering yourself?" and check the appropriate option.

  • Ideally you want to use the link provided to you by your club

  • If you don't have the link, when you get to the "Select Organisation" in the Competition drop down box, please search for your Club NOT Downey Park. The DPNA Winter Competition will then show on the next step.

  • Please also double check that you are selecting the right club based at Downey Park (there are some common club names across Qld!)

  • If you are unable to find your club, please contact your club directly (contact details for all clubs available on our website). Reminder - some clubs have not opened up for registration yet.

  • If you cannot find "2021 DPNA Winter Season", please do not select anything else as other options will register you into other programs and you will be ineligible to play. Please contact your club for instructions if you are unsure.

  • Finally, please be patient. Most of our clubs are run by volunteers who also have full-time jobs, families, study etc. This is a brand new system and everyone is still learning the ins-and-outs of it. There will possibly be a few teething problems but if we all stay calm and patient, we will get it sorted and get back playing our fantastic game!!
